What does “benkyosuru 勉強する” mean?
In every Japanese textbook, benkyou suru (勉強する) means “to study.”
But in Osaka, it can also mean… “to give a discount”!
If you ever visit Kuromon Market and tell a vendor:
「Mō sukoshi benkyou shite kudasai〜」
(“Could you knock the price down just a bit?”)
you might surprise them—in a good way!
